How To Fix A Bad Credit Report

Did you know that almost everyone has something wrong with their credit report? Whether it be a late payment, a collection account, bankruptcy, judgments, or delinquent credit cards to name a few. Sometimes the information being reported to the credit bureaus is inaccurate. All of these factors cause you to have low credit scores. I had no idea of my credit standing until about 6 months ago when I applied for a car loan and was denied due to too many negative accounts. That’s when I decided I needed to learn how to fix a bad credit report.

Let me tell you a little about my situation, every situation is different that caused the credit woes, the result is the same though, BAD CREDIT. I went through a divorce about 4 years ago, at the time leading up to the divorce I had very good credit, over 700 FICO scores. I could get credit anywhere for just about any amount. During the process of divorce the bills got split between myself and the ex-spouse. I made sure to pay all my bills on time during this time and managed to pay everything off that was given to me over the course of the next few years. I did not find out the true state of my credit until about 6 months ago. I was shopping for a new vehicle and applied for a brand new car thinking I still had a good credit standing. I found out that not only was my credit not as good as I thought, it was horrible. My credit score was 515. I couldn’t get any type of credit if I wanted to. My ex not only did not pay her share of the bills, but she filed bankruptcy 2 years ago. Guess what happened? Since I live in a community property state, all of these bills showed up negatively on my credit report. I then learned how to fix a bad credit report.

In a few short months I was on my way to credit redemption and my scores were steadily increasing. I now have several unsecured credit cards and my new vehicle. There are many credit repair scams / services available. Most of these are not providing the right information and encouraging you to commit fraud in order to repair your credit.
